CAPE’S 30th Anniversary Campaign

A message from CAPE President, Dr. Melissa Lem

I’m writing with some exciting news – this week, we are launching CAPE’s 30th Anniversary Campaign! Our goal is to raise $1,000,000 over the next year. This campaign is a first-of-its-kind for CAPE as we embrace this opportunity to celebrate all that we have achieved while we prepare for the future.

We’re on the verge of releasing our new strategic direction, which will focus on empowering physicians to become effective advocates for planetary health. By connecting our training in rigorous research with our experiential learning in practice, we will build an irrefutable narrative about the essential linkages between health, justice and the natural environment.

We invite you to support the development of this vital approach to shaping our common future now!

Support CAPE’s 30th Anniversary campaign

This milestone celebration is a testament to our community’s enduring commitment to improving environmental health through collaboration, advocacy, and policy. We have achieved great things together, and we applaud you, our community, for persevering to see them through.

  • CAPE started as a small group meeting in one another’s homes and has grown to 10 regional committees across Canada.
  • We have engaged over 25,000 supporters in 30 years, with close to 16,000 having taken action on a campaign!
  • Together, we have grown our efforts from developing a shared vision of a healthy planet for generations to come, to establishing four in-house programs dedicated to achieving our vision.
  • We have impacted 9% of Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions in Canada through coal phase-outs, joined with local communities to ban cosmetic pesticides, worked in coalition with other organizations to mobilize substantive amendments to the Canadian Environmental Protection Act for the first time in over 20 years, and trained over 100 health care professionals to be advocates for the health of people and the planet.

Thank you for your continued and generous support of the impactful work we are leading in research, advocacy and education to protect environmental and human health. Together, we can accomplish even more great things over the years to come.
