Join us in Burnaby where Gagliardi Way meets the Brunette River for a discussion about the health benefits of nature, followed by a guided salmon walk with renowned photographer Fernando Lessa along the Central Valley Greenway.

Dr. Melissa Lem is a Vancouver family physician, board member of CAPE and Director of Parks Prescriptions for the BC Parks Foundation who writes about nature and health for local and national media and environmental organizations. She was the resident medical expert on CBC TV’s Steven and Chris for four seasons and continues to educate diverse audiences on air.

Fernando Lessa is a photographer and author who specializes in documenting the relationship between humans and nature. He has worked on projects in the Amazon rainforest and Brazilian savannah, and exhibited commercial photography at the Smithsonian Institute and in Vogue UK magazine. His first North American book, Urban Salmon, was published in March 2019.
