Bruce Lourie, PhD

Bruce Lourie is president of the Ivey Foundation and a globally recognized sustainability leader. With expertise in climate change policy, he has founded over a dozen organizations critical to Canada’s net-zero transition, including the Canadian Climate Institute and The Transition Accelerator. His accomplishments include leading North America’s largest climate action by phasing out coal-fired electricity in Ontario and establishing the Ontario Greenbelt. A scholar-in-residence at McGill’s Trottier Institute and guest lecturer at Oxford’s Said Business School, Lourie is also co-author of two books, including the international bestseller “Slow Death by Rubber Duck.” In 2024, he was appointed to the Order of Canada for his lifelong commitment to sustainability and entrepreneurial efforts in establishing numerous environmental organizations.
