Melody Porlier is a resident doctor in emergency medicine at the University of Montreal with previous scientific experience in ecology, having completed a PhD on the impacts of environmental quality on the genetic diversity of bird populations. Her background naturally led to a strong interest in planetary health issues and environmental advocacy, and she joined the Association québécoise des médecins pour l’environnement (AQME) as an active member in 2020. Since then, she has worked on multiple local, national and international projects on planetary health and climate change education for health professionals, and she is a member of the Climate Crisis and Planetary Health work group at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Montreal. In her spare time, she enjoys yoga and trail running—in no small part because it involves more hiking and getting lost in the woods than actual running.
