Dr. James Orbinski

Dr. James Orbinski directs York University’s Dahdaleh Institute for Global Health Research. A physician, humanitarian, and scholar, he served as international president of Médecins Sans Frontières, accepting their 1999 Nobel Peace Prize. His research focuses on AI applications in humanitarian crises, climate change health impacts, and epidemic modeling. An officer of the Order of Canada and recipient of the Meritorious Service Cross for his work during Rwanda’s 1994 genocide, Dr. Orbinski authored the bestseller “An Imperfect Offering.” He lives in Guelph, Ontario with his wife and three children.
